Hi guys. 65 days owning 2 clowns. Cycled tank for 31 days before adding my lovely clowns. wAter change once a week and test twice a week
Last water change done Tuesday, tested today, all ok but ammonia 0.2 and nitrate 20( has always been 20)
Both clowns seem to be swimming at a slight angle, not quite upright.
should I be worried?

any help or advice would be gratefully received

thanks

should not have any detectable ammonia in your tank at this point, what kind of test kit are you using?

Also, clowns are funny , it would help if you attach a picture or a video to show them swimming sideways, people will be able to help

I’m going to guess API tests. If so, that .2 is false positive. You’re 3mo in? 2mo with the clowns? It’s not ammonia.

Look for something else, but mostly “clowns are weird” seems to be the popular explanation.

Are they eating? Is this slight angle been going on for some time?

Thanks for your reply. Ammonia has been zero up until today- used Red Sea and hanna digital to double check. My seachem alert badge says safe aswell?

Hi thanks for your reply. Tested with Red Sea and then hanna digital. Only
Noticed their swimming this morning. Feeding well and have eaten tonight so very confused?

Clowns do this occasionally. it is said that they do this to feel or hear vibrations in the water using their body as a sound receptor.
many also sleep in what is called headstand position. Drop a piece of feed and see how sudden they can swim straight

Hi- thanks for taking the time to reply to my post. They were both fairly quick to eat their food tonight but are still tilted when swimming and sometime seem to flick and swim(if this makes sense).
I have done a 10 % water change and added bacteria this afternoon.
I am soooo worried about them.

If newer, should resolve
If it were a buoyancy issue, they would struggle to get food

Thanks for replying. Testing using Red Sea and hanna Only noticed this morning and I watch them all the time as they fascinate me. They have eaten tonight and seemed hungry but swim as if they are drunk? So worrying! not sure what’s going on.

any idea?

Thanks for replying. Any other ideas what it could be? I did a water change and added some bacteria this aftrnoon. They fed well early evening but swimming as if they are drunk? So confused and very worried.

Give it another 24 hrs and also assure water flow isn’t too strong for them
To assure no internal issues , in quarantine you can add seachem metroplex with focus to bind metroplex to the foods to clear up any internal issues
