Clownfish treating themselves to my Duncan!

So for the past couple days my Duncan has found itself Laying in the dirt so to speak. I had figured that my clowns had decided to host with it and as it wasn't glued down they ended up knocking it off. So to stop this, this morning I epoxied the plug to my rock work only to notice about 20 minutes later that my clowns were nipping the poor little guy. So as of now he's got an acrylic box of armor around him until I can figure out what to do. Is this normal for clowns? They get fed twice a day with a mixture of pellets and frozen so I don't think it's a lack of food. Anyone have any ideas on what might have turned there taste buds on to my Duncan or what I can do to stop the massacre???

Lol, it’s normal clowns are just crazy. My clowns host a lavender mushroom and don’t want to look at 3 nems in my tank

In general they mouth more than nip but a Duncan can be irritated. I don’t think you can do anything. Could try moving the frag around but they’ll probably follow.

My clowns absolutely love the Duncan. I don't know if they were eating or nipping it per say. But I occasionally catch them with one of the tentacles in their mouth. Then they let go and everything goes back to normal. But they've been hosted by my Duncan's for quite some time.

My last two clowns ate a green birdsnest bare. Craziest thing ever. They were nice to my Duncan though.

It looks like they have taken small chunks off of him and he hasn't opened up since I boxed him up. Which has me concerned, not sure how to get him out of there being epoxied in place

Boy are they ever, the male is fearless and regularly attempts (and sometimes succeeds in) taking chunks out of my hand.

They aren’t crazy about high flow and upper parts of the tank. the problem is that the Duncan won’t like flow either but will survive for a short period, so maybe if you temporarily move the frag higher up closer to a pump they will forget it.

What type of clowns do you have. I suggest getting an anemone that they naturally host and try to get them to host that instead.

My clowns ignore all my corals. All they do is hang out in upper right part of tank. And sleep next to mag cleaner.

They are ocellaris clowns (bullet hole (female) and a black and white snowflake(male)). Interestingly I got myself a free anemone today that's in pretty rough shape so we shall see if I can pull him around and hopefully that will take there minds off the Duncan.

Thanks! I'll toss a waterproof keyboard in the tank and let them go at it. Just put your phone up to the tank so they can read it although we'd have to be careful they might send instructions on the best tasting corals

The anemone I have apparently is a long tentacle. We shall see when/if it turns around for the better. So good to know

If it recovers and the clowns don’t host it there is a way to get them to host it. Placing them together in a small container and slowly remove water to get clown to touch anemone.

Awesome, thanks for the tip, I'm honestly not expecting them too just kind of hopeful. Atleast I have a good direction to go now so we shall see how it goes
