Make sue you are getting the correct diagnosis too. White spots can mean a lot of things. Check through the disease section and find what looks similar.

Do you have any pics by any chance to see if its Ich? Ich looks like salt was poured on your fish.
I had ich in my QT so had a chance to treat it. I generally use the tank transfer method when treating for Ich.
