I am just cycling my 29g tank and while patiently waiting for the cycle to finish I am considering different options, reasearching possibilities, etc. Now I would love to have a couple of clownfish. I have no choice actually. My wife can't wait to see those beautiful creatures in our tank. I'd like to have an anemone also, this is obvious but I want to have some soft corals, zoas as well. Here is what I know so far and correct me if I'm wrong. Anemones split, grow, can kill other corals in the tank and can even take over the tank completely. They move around the tank and they can attack corals and destroy them. So here is my question. Is there any way to find an anemone that is less aggressive, can host a clownfish and I will not have to worry about corals in my tank? Or, can I find something else that my clownfish enjoy, interract with and at the same time I would be able to have corrals as well? Maybe I ask for too much?
Thanks guys for any advice.

Bubble tips should be fine man... They don't split that much and when they do just sell one... I know people who have had them for years and only have 1 that's a good size or like 2 or 3 splits... There not aiptasia and spread over night lol...

A hammer or frogspawn coral would work perfect for what you are trying to accomplish. Bubble corals are not nearly as eye appealing as a hammer or frogspawn.

Ours have hosted frogspawn, hammers, zoas, and green star polyps. They really love the hammers.

Yes they will host just about anything. I would recommend to really establish your tank before getting any sort of nem as they need an established tank. I'm not talking 1, 2 or even 3 months. I mean really establish it. Then you will be able to add any kind of nem you wish. Also in the size of the tank you have I would stick to a BTA. Others will most likely outgrow your tank. Once you have established your tank your nem should be just fine and happy that it shouldn't even move. Also proper lighting is needed. Hope it help and I wish you the best!

You don't need a nem at all.... I have 2 BTA's and my clown pair (1 wild caught, 1 tank bred), host my mag float..... to the point that if I leave it on the other side of the tank (6' 180g) that they will actually end up over there for the night!

You would be suprised what they'll host. They even host flower pots in breeders tanks.

Fantastic! I like all those corals and polyps mentioned above. Duncan corals or frogspawns are exactly what I like and if the clownfish like them also, that's great. I am fully aware that I should not intoduce any corals soon, I just plan well ahead. BTA looks fantastic as well. I talked to one guy in a local store and they happened to have 1 BTA and he said if BTA is fed aggresively, it may split very often, once every 2 months or so. Is this the case with some other LPS's, corals?

the only problem I had when my clowns hosted my frogspawn is when they started breeding, they all but killed it. I took it away and got them hosting some purple shrooms they didnt hurt them

bta's split all the time just about anything will make them split my rbta split when I did a large water change

My clowns won't host anything in my tank. They've got a rbta, frogspawn, a leather, duncans and they don't go for anything. I've had my rbta for about six months and it has grown a bit but hasn't moved at all and hasn't split either. I don't feed mine though so that might be why it hasnt split.
