This is not how I wanted to start my day.

sorry for the focus but it was nearly impossible to get a clear picture

It almost looks like it was punctured, a wound with a slight red dot in the middle. She is eating and acting normal but this was a bit concerning. This is the clownfish that has been hosting my anemone for 3 weeks now. I have to go to work now so I have it in the isolation box. any suggestions for when I get home?

I have a paired mandarin dragonets.
Along with an old 20 year old docile clownfish that could care less whats in the tank as long as you arent a turbo snail or attack any clown fish.
And the other juvenile clownfish that came with the now injured clownfish.

All the water perameters are fine.

Could be an ulceration although tough to say 100% as it’s out of focus. Is the sore protruding or inward? When did you notice it and was it after adding something new? Is that redness next to the wound? Uronema can also sneak in that way, but hopefully it’s just a result of an injury.

It appears infected. Any other fish with similar issues? Anywhere else on the body?

I would start it off with an acriflavine bath 60-90min, followed by metro, kanaplex and furan 2 treatment.

I thought video might focus better.

But I will get the neccisary meds and treat Natasha. Though Boris is not going to be happy with her gone.

Fish is 2 months into the tank. If it is uronema then I am guessing that tank is useless to transfer anything into the new 125 tank I’m trying to set up

It is outward. Seems to be a bit of a bump

Looks more likely an infected injury. As above acriflavine + the trifecta should hopefully help before it spreads. Good luck and keep us posted!

Meds on the way, QT set up, dip bath will be ready when I get more salt.

Sorry she’s hurt :(
Love the names...Boris and Natasha. You need to get something/s else and name rocky and bullwinkle

Yeah that was not a fun morning. Wake up ready to feed and go.... Wait that isnt normal. She is the first clownfish I have gotten to go into an anemone. 20 years Clyde... You are a clown fish go in the anemone.... Dumb fish.

Moose and Squirrel, that is the next names. Maybe the Mandarins will be named that but they just dont seem to fit those names.

Yeah needs to be something more active

The red spot is gone after a few day of treatment. But it still has a wound. I still cannot get a good picture of the tail. She is eating at every chance and has no lose of appetite. A bit stressed from being in the new tank and not having her anemone. No loss in movement or lethargic attitude outside the normal weirdness of a sleeping and bored clownfish (sleeping nose down and bobbing around).

I may have found the culprit to the injury. Seems my Mandarin Dragonet is missing his spine. I would guess that the clownfish decided to be territorial on the anemone and tried to chase the mandarin away, only to get hit with the spine and cause a very bad injury.

Good news! Natasha is healing nicely and the wound is no longer infected and has closed up. Bad news is that Boris took over the anemone. So Natasha needs to assert her dominance.... again.

Glad for a happy progression... here’s to a happy ending! :)

Well bad news to report. yesterday I noticed Natasha the clownfish acting very strange with heavy breathing and slightly odd looking eyes. Immediately got her back into quarantine overnight. Symptoms improved by morning and she was swimming around, the same with most of the day when I checked on her. I went to eat dinner and came back and she was dead.

I was really hoping ot get this pair of onyx clowns bonded.

Bummer ! Sorry Friend .

The initial wound was pretty bad. I thought I was going to get lucky. Had both as juveniles from a large tank full so I was very certain pairing them would have happened. Now I get to hope for the best with a replacement.

Sorry to hear about your loss :(
