Hi all,
I'm new to the hobby and I just noticed tonight one of my clownfish has about 5 white spots on both sides of its body, head & pectoral fin. They are small and at least one seems to be slightly raised.
He is is hosting in a Catalaphyllia and I haven't noticed any change in behaviour such as lack of apetite, lethargy, rubbing or agitation. No other fish in the tank seem to be showing signs of infection.
I'm concerned that it might be ich, but would appreciate any other opinions. I don't have a QT but will set one up for treatment if necessary.
Cheers

Welcome to R2R!

With Clownfish, we always default to looking for Brooklynella when white spots show up. And early stage Brook can present very similar to Ich. Here's info with pictures and treatment on both.

I wonder how common Brook is in Captive Bred Clownfish in tanks without water mixed from other systems.
Unknown. Comes down to how much do you truly trust your supplier and their claims.

Is your Clown wild caught? Does your LFS mix water between their systems?
I don't recall if he's tank bred for sure, but it's very likely as I know they've had trouble getting wild caught stock due to the pandemic. The LFS has separated systems for their livestock tanks. I forgot to mention that he's been in my tank for about 4 months now, and the most recent additions were a green chromis and a gold-stripe cardinal two weeks prior.

Thanks, bookmarked. I'll try to follow this advice.

This morning the spots have faded a lot, and only the spot in front of his dorsal fin is visibly white.
