So I've had a bta and a pair of clowns for over a month and the fish haven't gone near it.. been wanting to put them in a colander together but the nem was bunkered in good.. today I got him out (damage free) and gonna give it a go. Anyone had luck with this strategy?

I have had this work in a tiny container, think like 1 cup size. The clownfish then proceeded to host so strongly to that anemone and two others that they killed all three by stressing them out so bad :(.

I, personally, am not a fan of forcing clowns to be hosted --- with the wrong combination could very well end up with an eaten clown.

Ocellaris and E. quadricolors are not a natural combination --- there is a chance it could never happen, or could happen tomorrow. I would just let things happen at their own pace.

I tried this a few years ago. It didn't work for my pair, but it was worth a try lol

Hey seriously though...tape a picture of a clown nuzzled up in an anemone to the side of the tank. It just may work. I've heard a lot of success stories that way. It sounds crazy but it just may surprise you.

My Clarkii took over a week to finally go near the anemone. When he finally took to it, I was afraid he was going to kill it as he was burrowing so aggressively. However, after about 24-48 hours, things have calmed down. It appeared that the thing that finally got the two together was me feeding the anemone and clownfish in close proximity... that seemed to seal the deal.

Also, I would strongly heed the warning about ensuring clownfish and anemones are carefully paired.

The picture method worked for me. But, it doesn't work instantly. They have an intelligence delay so days after taking the pic down it'll click to them.
