Hi everyone.
I was up this morning before my lights on my tank went on (I’m not usually) and basically when they went on, I noticed that my clown was pale and white-ish in colour......... obviously my heart sank! He seemed to be asleep when the lights went on and only started swimming when the lights turned on.

However, within a few minutes he was back to his normal, deep orange colour!
So, do clowns (or fish in general) lose their colour at night when they’re ‘sleeping’??
Thanks

Many fish will often change color when sleeping or stressed. As an example My blenny goes from back to a light grey at nigh time
Here are my babies.
All light grey to light orange!

I haven't seen that with a clown before. My snowflake retained his color at all times (even at 3AM). That said each fish is different and it could depend on the variety (particularly if it's a designer clown).

Mine are mochavinchi and they loose some color.
I’ve had some standard ocelaris who never lost color, and some that have gone almost all grey. It just depends.

Whilst we’re on the topic of clowns. I’d like to introduce a new clown for company for my one currently in aquarium (previous one jamp out of tank!) :(
Now, how do I introduce a new one safely to the aquarium, without a fight?/will they fight?

Emma...get a Tailspot Blenny. They completely change at night!

Wow that looks like such a cool fish! Minimum tank size/temperament? Get on with clown and shrimp?
Thanks
Lord yes!!! You can do one in a very small tank. You'll love it!!!
