New to all this. Curious.. have 2 little clowns an they were together all day. Never left each other's side an swimming in one spot together.. I went to accidentally hit the light off.. turned it on a couple min later and one is sleeping at the bottom of the tank and the other is now at the surface of the water nearly out of the water.. near the filter or heater. They haven't even gone that high at all in the tank.. so wondering if this is normal or is he stressed at all?

Can you mention your water parameters PH included?

did you add the bottle bacteria for fish cycling?

That would make one swim to the top and the other sleeping at the bottom just fine? Tank was cycled. I waited awhile an did the necessary things to create the nitrogen cylce it needed.

Not sure if one has just got a wild hair right now while the other is tuckered out.. he's exploring a new territory but they haven't done that on their own before. Lol. So just making sure it doesn't like anything that stands out as an issue for someone who doesn't know what to look for.

Tank looks a bit cloudy, is the bottom clown breathing heavily? It could be less oxygen due to the bacteria bloom.

The woman at the fish store said it would get a bit cloudy after the first few days .. so I figured that would be somewhat normal. But I did turn the powerhead off.. could that be why he's acting a little odd?

Is this cloudy? I don't know. Lol

Turn the power head on and move it upwards to crest surface agitation. It’ll help with the oxygen in the tank. You don’t have corals so don’t worry. Keep testing with good kits. Clowns will be they’re super hardy.

How long were lights off? a when lights go out fish will find their sleeping spots. So may be very normal. I have had clowns sleep in the oddest places and separate. Mostly in corner of tanks top bottom etc. now to ease your mind you can leave the lights on for a bit and they should go back to swimming normal. If that one on bottom stays there then something wrong. If so I saspect that cloudiness is bacterial bloom so defiantly put pump back on and point to surface to get the most surface agitateion. Power filter supplies enough but not if a bloom

This is my tank difference dealt with cloudy water for a month.

If the tank is cycled then i would not be concerned at all. Just like humans some of my fish lay go to their sleeping spots at different times and that is actually one of the few times one of my pair my clowns leave eachother. One goes to his sleep spot at lights off...the other wanders around for a couple hours.

Having said that(and knowing little about your tank) i would never turn that pump off and as someone else indicated point it a bit towards surface. It looks like that is the main source of eater agitation(and oxygen). Dont want that turned off.

Okay, so the hang on back filter isn't enough agitation on its own you would say? I keep going back and forth with the placement cause it seems like it the flow has a lot to do with where they end up most of the time and I could be completely wrong about that. But okay cool! Glad one of yours is doing it too. That makes me feel better and not like one was stressed or something. I turned the light off for the night an they seem to be snuggling back up with each other an trying to find a place. Yall are my new panic safely zone now.. so every time I see something, I'm going to say something. My cautious nature. Hahah.

Well this is night 2.. so still really new to normal behavior. They did find the night before. Swam around all day. Both of them ate. So I'd say its okay for now.. I'm hoping my little buddies are healthy an happy.
