So I woke up this morning and noticed my black snowflake clowns gills are puffed out and he's not as active today. My other clown is perfectly fine and so is the royal Gramma both are active. So I tested water parameters. 0ppm ammonia 0ppm nitrite and 0ppm nitrate. He was totally fine before I turned off light yesterday. Any ideas of what I can do to maybe help him? Already have done a water change. And the thing is he isn't breathing all heavy even though his gills are kind of puffy. Any ideas or thoughts or things I can do to help

How is the water flow? Had this problem once and it turned out my water wasn’t flowing from high enough so it wasn’t oxygenating the water properly

Pics under white light and a video would help a lot.
How recently have they been introduced? Any quarantine before hand? Any aggression?

It was running for a month before I put them in. And they have been in it for almost 3 weeks now. They acclimated fine. Like I said just yesterday he was eating he was active everything and now this.

I was feeding new life spectrum pellets. And yesterday I feed newly hatched baby brine shrimp. My alkalinity is a little high a little over 12dgh. I'm trying to lower that. And I checked parameters before posting this thread.

thats not how you measure salinity... dgh is water hardness. You need to measure SG (specific gravity) or PPM (parts per million). Do you have a hydrometer or refractometer?

did you do a water change? do you use RODI or Distilled water when mixing salt? what do you top off your tank with?

If it's the male there's a high possibility that the female was trying to mate with him and he didn't want to so she attacked him.

In this video, the fish's mouth appears to be stuck open. Is that what you are seeing? Have you noticed that before?

During the three weeks before you added the fish, did you do anything to force the tank to cycle?

What test kit are you using to check ammonia?

On the surface, it appears the issue is only affecting the one fish. If you are able, try to get a sharp still photo that we can enlarge it to see if anything else stands out.

As some of the others said - additional info is needed. Here is a post that gives some tips on that:

Yea my gravity is 1.025 and yes I use rodi water to mix salt and rodi water to top off. And yes other fish are totally fine. And yes it seems as the mouth is stuck open. And he or she is the bigger one and was being more aggressive towards the white one so I thought that clown would be the female. I'm using API 5 in 1 testing strips. I've done over a 50 percent water change thought out today. And all my levels are 0ppm ammonia. 0ppm nitrite and nitrate. Gravity 1.025 temp 76 degrees. After the water changes the clown is more active but still mouth open and breathing fast. Other fish are no problem. Maybe the white fish got tired of being picked on and hurt it? Idk what else to do besides keep performing water changes and keep a close eye on them

I will keep posting on the status of the fish but he/she is just hanging around it's rock spot that it sleeps at night if anyone else has any ideas or thoughts I can do to help him or her please let me know. Thanks
