I plan on getting a couple clownfish for my reef tank when it’s ready. I’m sure I’ll just get the ocellaris but, I’m just curious, since there are so many hybrids and species, how do you think ORA crossed the ocellaris with the clarkii? Do think it was done artificially? I’d be interested in a maroon ocellaris hybrid, but I think maroons are far too aggressive. Anybody have experience with this stuff? I love the yellow look of the clarkii, but they are huge.

from my reading I thought the Clarkii X Ocellaris was accidental. My guess would be Clarkii female Ocellaris male (due to the natural size difference).

I have 2 Maroon X Ocellaris (Mai Tai clowns), very beautiful fish. Big one bullies the little. But both leave their only other tank mate alone, a 6 line wrasse. . . I don’t blame them

From ORA:

“Other unintended hybrid clownfish we’ve found include what appears to be a Gold Stripe Maroon and Tomato (Amphiprion frenatus) hybrid, an Ocellaris and Clarkii (Amphiprion clarkii) hybrid, and an Ocellaris and Tomato hybrid.”
