today i justadded a new ocelarius clown to my tank. I used to have a pair but the female died. I just added a new clown to the tank and now they are fighting. What should i do? Will they kill each other?

First off how long was the other clown alone in the tank? How large are they? If same size and not full grown, they are probably working out dominance. Usually ocellaris will not kill, but could if the new guy is not healthy.
They are about an inch or an inch in a half, they are about the same size, the other one was alone for less than three weeks

I would have added a juvenile clown. There's a chance that once male had switched teams. Two females will fight to the death.

Not sure what you have, but best of luck.

Basically how it started is i added the new clown, and he kinda swam around for a while while my old clown hid in his cave where he tends to be when i do matenance. He hangs out there a lot too. But then the new clown came into his territory, and then they started picking at each other and then got in an all out fight. I waited for a while to see if they would stop, but they didn’t, so i put the new one in a breeding net in the tank.

Mine turned into an assassin and killed two that I was trying to pear her with. I finally waited until she was larger, then I add a clown that was a third of her size and the boned in 10 minutes. That is my story:). If this one does not make it wait;)

I agree with the above comments. They are probably trying to determine dominance. They may be able to work it out, but it would be best to introduce a smaller clown than your existing one for a better chance. Did you purchase it at your LFS? They may be willing to swap for a smaller one.

I bought it from a place ive never been before, my friend gave me a gift certificate for it. As for the clown it was the last black misbar ocelarius, they might have more soon though. Probably on sunday ill shift up my old clowns territory and then reintroduce the new clown, how does that
sound?

Always gotta go smaller on the 2nd one. My pairing worked out perfectly. Now I have eggs all the dang time.

It's an obvious risk as has been discussed. There is a chance one will eventually submit to the other, but if they are the same size, my opinion is those chances are slim. Although the LFS store is new to you, might I suggest simply explaining the situation to them and see how they respond. This is of course assuming they get more of the species you desire.

Not a problem anymore. The orange clown died in a tragic accident regarding the pump. The black clown now has a home. I’m going to grow him out a bit before i get him a friend

Sorry to hear about that.

Bummer, when you get a friend for it, intro in a floating breeder box or similar to observe and be safe.
Getting a smaller one, not just smaller, but an inch to an inch and a quarter max assures it is still a male or possibly unsexed, but even so some females just will not accept some males or newcomers, and sometimes it takes more than one try.
