Half the clutch hatched last night on day 7. about 50 left to hatch. I wasn't ready an they went in the filter. Anyway. I have my fry tank set up now. I will put the pot in later and hope for the best. Should I put rotifiers in the water today or wait till morning after they hatch. Also do I just dump the green water in or should I strain them first? TIA Dave

I would transfer the pot half hour b4 lights out . Try to block any light coming in the fry tank witching a hr or two the should hatch place or make a defused on your lights so they can see what they are hunting " Rotifers" block all 4 sides of the tank paint, brown , black construction paper etc.. They can hold til am turn light on place Rotifers n tint the water with micro algae " green water" helps block strong lights . U can use white paper as a defuser .

Thanks. I just checked on them and they all hatched. took about 1.5 hours after light out. will keep it dark till tomorrow morning.

I would wait till the a.m 7:30-8 the make sure you put a defuser on the light the don't need strong light that reflex of the glass n blind them u can use white paper with a fluorescent light. Add the Rotifers and give the water a nice tint helps a little to block a little . Good luck bro

Ya, 10 gal fry tank with 3 gal of water from the stock tank
heater at 80* bubble wand on both ends of the tank. blacked out all four sides. white bottom. no ammonia . Water was in the tank for 1 hour before I put the clay pot in. hatch at 8.pm dead at 6am. tank was new. washed it out with plain water. will use bleach before next hatch. anything I missed?

Does the heater have a light? Maybe they got fried

I covered the light on the heater and put the heater over the bubbles as recommended. still stumped.

Do u have a digital temp reader? Cuz the first time I used the glass ones with the led n the red strip that rises , anyway it was ready 81 they all drop the next day I use fresh made water next day there was 7 left out of like 80 breathing hard I get my digital temp reader that morning I check n temp was at 88.7 I def cooked mines. Main things are usually temperature swings, it messes with oxygen n other stuff , water quality, light reflection.try adding prime just incase

That was the first thing I thought it might be but took a temp measurement with another thermometer and it was dead on...
