My clownfish, only in the tank for a week, I have two of them, they sometimes have what looks like a seizure. A few days ago I noticed my larger clown would go into convusions and was even sideways up against the glass. This afternoon I noticed the same thing, but only this time it was my smaller clown was having a seizure and it happened twice in a row. Well... maybe about 15 seconds apart or so. Are they okay? Should I change their diet? Should I quarantine them or anything? It's really weird as they seem okay otherwise. They eat fine, most of the time they get along alright although occasionally they nip at each other a bit. Other than the occasional bickering their behavior seems fine except for in the mornings they seem a little sluggish and disoriented... floating around vertically even... but it's probably because they are still half asleep lol. They perk up after the lights are on. But the seizures... they do kinda scare me. Can parasites cause seizures?

clowns will shake really fast when they are submitting to the other...are they doing this close to one another or separate?

Don't worry, sound like they are becoming a pair. Shaking and having the seizure is their way of telling each other that they want to submit and accept each other.
If the big one doing it, it means that she is accepting the little guy as her mate and won't beat him up anymore. If the little guy is doing it, it means that the little guy submitted to the big female and accept his role as the male and the submissive one. If the little one is doing it and the big one doesn't like it, then she will continue to beat up the smaller guy to death. If both of them are female, then most likely they will kill each other. By the way, which kind of clown fishes are they? some kind are easier to match up than other.

Hope that help a bit.

yes, no worries gemini :) clowns being clowns and they are working out their partnership which is a really good thing!

oooohh.... hmm. Well I don't think either of them are male or female yet, they don't fight much and doesnt' seem they will kill each other so either they are both males or haven't sexed yet? Hmm I duno. But either way, I'm glad they aren't dying from seizures. When they shoo, the other times, they were right next to each other. They do seem to always partner around the tank and 90% of the time they are close to one another so ... *shrugs* I'm pretty sure they are still juveniles. Not babies, but juveniles anyway. Says the LFS.

Gemini if one shakes like that it means it's submitting to the other clown which means that the fish that is shaking is the male and the other is female

my smaller clown does this, but here is the thing they both do it to my royal gramma. that fool will charge across the tank just to punk my clown fish. it it sad to watch.

They also do this while spawning (though not as "violent").

Mine have done this with new fish added to the tank (dominance/territory) - or perhaps he starting falling in love with the tangs... Oh the scandal that would cause! :xd:

Ah. They must have gotten bored with each other then. I haven't seen them doing any shaking the past few days. lol

Very nice! They were twitching again today and acting all weird. The smaller one would twitch and the slightly larger clown would bite at it's butt. Now, they seem to be getting along perfectly. Clowns are weird!

Yes they are and to let you know if you plan on getting an anemone for them watch which ones you get i have like 6 condy anemones and those darn clowns dont even let them eat. There always bugging them i wish i would have kept my mouth shut about them not hosting any of my anemones. Now they host all and its annoying trying to feed them while the clown rite there trying to take out the food.
