Is there any way I can run my clowns off from hosting in a hammer coral?
They are irritating the crap out of it. I've tried tapping on the glass, flashing my hand at them, shooting them with a turkey baster.
Nothing keeps them away.

They were hosting a candy cane, and that coral didn't care. But they've taken up a new residence in the hammer.

if your clowns are the type of clowns that stay in the same spot and never move, then you can move the coral to the other side of the tank.

Good luck.
I have a clown hosting my hammer as well. Got a really nice RBTA which has almost doubled in size since i got it.
The clown wont go near the RBTA.

My clowns meander between zoas and hammer.
The correct phrasing is the hammer or zoa is hosting the clowns, if we care.

If you have some leftover topcover net and small tieraps, you could built a temporarily cage for the hammer. Hopefully the clowns lose interest and find another host.

I’ve though about doing this using some egg crate

Yeah, they moved from the candy cane over to other side of the tank where the hammers are.

An anemone... Maybe. Of course, they move around in most cases, stinging everything. Perhaps puting something more enticing... Maybe a tipped over mini flower pot?
I thought about this as well. The issue is this is in a small 25 lagoon in my office. It think it would kill most everything in the tank until it found a home.

When a clown is being hosted something, it won’t always stop using it. I learnt this with a Black Photon (Occ x Perc) and now I can’t move the Ricordea rock unless I want to get bitten. You can try adding something like a Ricordea mushroom - Clownfish LOVE them, or Atleast my 6-7 that I’ve had over the years have. I have had 3 Black Photons and 3-4 Occ in the past. Not one of them turned down the look of my bounce ricordea yuma. My previous pair of Occ clowns lived to use a frogspawn but then this nice big yuma was introduced They instantly went to try get it to host them.
