Hey guys!

I have had this pair of black clowns for about 4 months now and about a week ago they started to go no stop spinning around eachother and the small one looks like its back fin has been hit a little. I put them in at the same time and they have been doing great with each other until now.

I have a 65gal mixed reef. For a long time they were about the same size and now I can really tell one is bigger than the other and it is picking on the small one. I am not sure if this is normal for until they finish finding out who is the boss or what I should do.

Thanks for all the help and I love this site.

Matt

Are they the same size, one a little bigger?

They might just be doing a little mating dance...

The male and female I have do the same thing but I know those two are a breading pair... either that or the eggs they lay are an optical illusion...Maybe I'm  lol

Thanks for the reply. They are the same size but still really small. They were babies when I got them. One is a little bigger and they do what looks like the mating dance but im not sure how long they do this.

It looks to me like the bigger one is nipping on the small ones tail but its not really bad.

Thanks again

A true "fight" is a very aggressive thing to watch, keep an eye on them ultimately you might have to separate the two but give it a little time...

Have you noticed them staying close together when the lights are off, or do they run to separate parts of the tank?

The bigger one will probably be your dominate female.

Let her court her man. Lol

When the lights are off the big clown goes to his BTA.

I have been watching them today and so far they have not been messing with each other as much.

Thanks for all the help with this. I just want to make sure everything is okay and if not i need to move one out.
