Clumped up salt

Why does clumped up salt not dissolve. Had a full bag of IO that had a crack in it so it turned hard. I broke up up pretty good and added it to RO. And this is the result. Super cloudy, stuff on the surface and a good amount of salt at the bottom that wont dissolve.

I'd drop an airstone in that container. I have one that constantly runs in my big garbage bin of saltwater.

Its been going for hours. It never takes this long. I dumped it as I didn’t want to take the chance but what a pain.

It will never dissolve. It's precipitated calcium carbonate...sand, if you will.

Clumped salt is a result of moisture getting in and causing a reaction to occur which forms a precipitate. Calcium and magnesium might be off but you can measure these and add more to correct for the precipitate removal of these elements. Alkalinity might be off too..
