Has anybody filled their Co2 bottle with Co2 from their local sports store or paintball store before?

Iv filled mine that I use on planted tanks at a welding store and fire extinguisher repair/store

Great thanks! I just wasn't sure if there is a difference in quailty like there is when filling 02 for scuba diving.

Some places do not filter their CO2 as well. I go to a homebrewing supply shop where the CO2 is intended for human use and have never had a problem.

My calcium reactor actually got me started in the homebrewing hobby! I needed a CO2 bottle and fill and someone mentioned the shop to me. While I was getting the bottle filled they talked me into a $100 DIY brewing kit and it has grown from there. I now have a kegerator capable of holding 5 corny kegs right next to me reef, my two favorite hobbies in one place........

Thats funny you mentioned that because this past wknd i just tasted my first beer i ever made at home and was so impressed that it actually tasted good! It tasted like i bought it! I cant wait to taste the second batch i made!

Brewing is the first hobby I have ever had where I actually get something back out of it, everything else just consumes money with no return other than the satisfaction.

The welding store has worked fine for me. I ended up putting a large CO2 tank on because I got tired of having to go in and fill the small one. This large one has lasted over 9 months so far.
