I picked up a CLASSIC 1000 HANG-ON-BACK PROTEIN SKIMMER to hold me over til I do a new build. I want to draw co2 from the skimmer cup to scrubber than back to skimmer. With how this skimmer is oddly shaped. Would I be wasting my time doing it. I have had it drawing air from the room and saw descent results. I don't even know if I would get result doing this with this type of skimmer. If Its doable how big of a whole do I need to drill a forth in. Diameter? Half inch? 3/4inch?

I use a DIY skimmate locker that I run an air tube from and that is the inlet for my scrubber. I run a 1/4" semi rigid tubing from the locker to the skimmer inlet. I have no issues. You could drill a hole and epoxy a small hose barb in place.

Right now I half a 1/4inch diameter from skimmer cup to the co2 scrubber and another 1/4 Inch diameter back to the skimmer. In thinking i need to go bigger than 1/4 inch from cup to the scrubber.

Can you explain why you need a larger diameter tubing from the cup to the scrubber? Can you take a picture of your setup?

I took a video. Here it is

Took several pictures. The airline I got wasn't long enough so I got a coupling and connected 2 airlines together. Not sure if it will make a difference or not.

I don't see the video, but from the images, you seem to have plenty foam production. No real need to go to larger diameter tubing. I think the bigger issue is the water getting sucked into the scrubber. From personal experience, this doesn't end well. The media gets mushy if it gets too wet. I would add a fluid collector inline. A simple jar with inlet and outlet in the lid will work.

Right now I have s tablespoon of water at the bottom of the skimmer. I just plan on watching for moisture in the line then just dump it on the floor. Concrete flood. So no worries. But if it looks dirty I'll dump it in a cup til I do the cup collection.
