Coast to Coast + FramingTech Custom 80

Read through the whole thread today, I like the stand and the rock structure you got!
Thank you!

Drawings say the frame is skinned and panels are held on with magnetic catches. Do you have a OEM part number or website link for those catches ?

I got these, but they are really hard to recommend. They say they hold 6lbs or 11lbs, but 4 of them struggle with a simple piece of 1/8" acrylic that weights nothing.

I'll say this, Micheal

If I ever do another custom build, I'll use FramingTech for the stand.

Their video's show some hard core girders and their stands will last a lifetime.

I have zero complaints with FramingTech or 80/20. I think it is a very viable option for custom tanks.

I will say that the owner of CTC, Pat was not impressed. He's a fan of welded steel stands. His problem was not with 80/20 nor FramingTech, but threaded feet. He feels it's fine for 5 years, but doesn't feel threads of any type are acceptable long term.

It was an interesting point.

True but how would you level the stand then??? o_Oo_O
Can't the feet be replaced?

You'd have to move the tank or maybe use a jack to hold the frame in-place to replace the feet. I don't think it's a issue.

The majority of CTC's work are tanks too big to fit thru doorways and are built on-site. So I suspect they are talking commercial 10+ year situations, guessing they prefer welds for everything?

Pfff.... +10 years.... that is serious due date for an upgrade.

I have a steel stand with screw feet, I never considered longevity! Ho hum! ;)

I'm part of the Battlecorals grow-out contest, no illusions of winning. I just think it will be really fun. I got a choice frag, the contest is for Sniper's Blue.

I swear I glued the others better! I took reference photos of all the frags so I can track growth. More pics this weekend

I use those BRS gloves, so my hands are safe, but nothing protects the poor coral from my lack of skills. He'll be fine, but I sort of regret taking him off the plug.

I burn thru those gloves, I try not to put my hands in the hand. You can find them on Amazon too
