Coat Aluminum Screen Frame in Something?

Just built a DIY top with clear 1/4” netting and aluminum screen framing. The question is should I coat the frame in something like rustoleum?

Most of the screen frame material is powder coated that I've seen. Those don't need any additional protection.

This is the brown one from Lowe’s. Where we cut it, it’s exposed. Plus there’s a few nicks as well.

I've never had any issues with the cut areas. If the screen get some salt on it, just rinse it off with tap water and dry.

No worries.
 
Sounds good! Appreciate the reply I’ll leave it now as is and I guess I could always later if I see an issue.

Yep, I've had them like that in the past. I have a canopy on my current tank, so no screen now.

It's really responsible to have a screen to keep them from carpet surfing.
