Hey guys i just installed a 300w Neo-Therm for my 75 gallon reef. The two heaters I had in there before malfunctioned and the tank got up to 85°. I’ve installed the New above heater and set it to 78° but it is still flashing at 86...does anybody know if the heater will just stay off until the tank cools back down to the 78 deg and then start to maintain temperature? Not sure what to do

Correct. Its flashing to notify you temp is out of range. It wont kick on until the temp falls below your set point.

Its a safety and doing its' job. Will kick in when/if needed

Heater controller is a great investment. I always ran inkbirds in my FW days and at the beginning of my reef. I run two 150w neos on my 75 now controlled with apex

I will say out of all the heaters I have used over the years the neos were the most accurate out of the box.

Keep a very close eye on the Neotherm's. Sounds like its opperating as it should now but a controller of some sort is advised with all heater's but even more so with the Cobalt Neotherms.
