Where do I begin,

Well I took about half a year off from reefing. Got married in October and didnt have time to worry about my reef tank. So I sold everything, enjoyed my wedding and my honeymoon to Maui without any worries of an Apex alarm going off on my phone.

2 weeks ago, searching on craiglslist for rimless tanks cuz I was bored. Found a brand new cobalt cvue 40 still in the box for 225 bucks 15 minutes away from my house. So i text the guy, and picked it up the very next morning. Wife wasn't too thrilled that I wanted another system due to the electrical bill costs on the last 2 I had pryor.

5 days ago, Went to home depot and bought 1000 sq ft of vinyl waterproof flooring. The laminate flooring I had before had taken a beating from salt water and 2 puppies learning how to be potty trained. That floor only made it 4 years. So I went with the good stuff this time. Installed it in 3 days by myself.

Today, Moved DIY stand into house from an old fish tank, layed some vapor barrier foam down that I had laying around from flooring, took out the the Cvue40 from the box and put it in place. Finally I have a tank in my home again. It feels good. It may be a few weeks before I get the tank wet, I need to finish painting the front room baseboards, trim, & doors. Renovate my stairs, & finish the baseboards in the kitchen before I start on the tank.
I Will keep Y'all posted on what happens next.

Wow! Love the flooring, pups, and new tank! Look forward to more pics!

Welp it's Raining pretty good here in Northern California so I decided to stay in and make some DIY media baskets.

This is my first time making these and I had a little trial and error on the first one, that being said they turned out alright for only 40 bucks of material.

I was looking at getting the intank media baskets, but just couldn't come to paying 130$ for 2 plastic baskets that hide in the back chambers. Not worth the price tag in my eyes.

Still in the process of finishing the second basket at the moment.

So top layer will be filter floss, middle chamber debating on siporax, and bottom chamber will be chemi pure on one and purigen on the other rack. Anybody have and recommendations or input on what they have in their own racks or what they think is a good combo?

What's next for me.....

This weekend I am suppose to buy 2, 1 year old ocean revives led lights for 100 bucks. heck of a deal. I plan on saving up for some nicer LEDS down the road.

Now I have had ocean revives before and grew sps with them no problem. They are a good light and very cheap. I would reccomend them to anybody!

But that being said I want to spoil myself to radions or even the new cobalt light eventually. I obviously would like to achieve this before putting a decent amount of coral in my tank, otherwise I'm just going to have to reacclimate them to par, and may risk losing or bleaching some if I dont be careful.

Look at you making a strong come back! Welcome back, flooring looks great!

Lol thanks, I dont think I'll be making a comeback on youtube. I like the forum format better. Maybe a video here or there. Hopefully I can have this tank wet by the end of the month. Still need to buy salt, sand, rock, and a new brute can before I do anything.

Where are you getting rock from? Going into the ocean to get it?

Glad to see you back. Loved your previous tanks and can't wait to see what you do with this new build. Off to a great start.
Thanks Phil, as long as it is a glimpse of ur new tank, I will be happy.

Picked up my cheap LEDS this weekend from a local reefer taking a break from the hobby.

Unfortunately He didnt have the hanging hardware with the ocean revives.

That meant another little diy project for me. Went to Lowes and bought some Eye hooks, chain, and the Crosby clamps to attach it all. I think there called crosby's, I dont remember. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I'm going to hang some hooks from the ceiling and hang my lights with small chain. I should have it done by next weekend depending on my schedule.

Took advantage of that dr foster and Smith going out of online services sale today. Ca tax always coming back to bend me over one way or another. Pretty much got 5 percent off out of the 15 [emoji58]
