Cobalt Neo-Therm 75w Heater

What is everyone's opinion on this heater as of right now. I know they had problems with the larger ones a few years ago. Have they changed the design? If so, when? I picked one up at my lfs last weekend after reading some good reviews. After I got home and put it in my tank I came across a lot of negative reviews. Thanks in advance!

To my knowledge they did have issues with the larger heaters, but have since changed up the design. Apparently the 300 watt was having issues, and to fix it instead of a single 300 watt unit it's now two 150 watt units daisy chained together. As soon as my heater I have now goes out I plan on getting the 300 watt neo therm heater.

I have 5 (2 150w and 3 75w) now and love them all! One of them goes through the ringer as I use it for mixing salt water. I've had them for 1-2 years and they are all going strong. As crabs said above, all the issues they had were with the single 300w model. Realistically I believe they just got too hot for the standard materials they use to make them and to be honest there solution of daisy chaining two 150s works out better anyways with double the surface area for heat transfer.

I am planning on using the 75w model in 10 gal shrimp tanks. I read the instructions carefully as well and it says to put the heater in the water for 15 mins before plugging in for calibration. I feel as though some people do not read the directions and that also contributes to them malfunctioning.

Definitely an important step when first setting them up but I'll be honest, I have never done this when mixing fresh salt water and the heaters thermostat is still bang on. The issue with the 300w heaters was they blew up inside tanks releasing there internal materials into the water and killing everything.

I've been using them for several years with no problems. Their thermostats are particularly good, they stay within about +/- half a degree or less according to my Apex temp probe.

I have three 100W in a 53 gallon, no issues so far.

They are less efficient than Eheim's, for example, they require more watts per gallon.

Chewy. com often has them on sale and cheaper than anywhere else I've found

I run a cobalt neo therm with no problems and it seems to work fine

I have been using the Cobalt Neo-therm heaters in my tanks for several years without a failure. I like the slim design, these fit in places the Eheim can't be placed.

Right now I have (2) 15oW heaters in my 75G. One manages the temps, the second is backup. I also have a 25W in my 4g zoa garden.
