Hey guys. I've had some bad luck with heaters so I've decided to try a Neo-Therm.

Now I've read some negative reviews, to sum them up here's the bad I've heard;
- If power goes out, it will turn on at the highest setting
- They used to blow up, and shouldn't anymore (I hope)
- They have a slightly higher than average failure rating

I've read some threads and done some searches, but I'm looking for any new information people have in regards to this heater. I've been in fish keeping long enough to admit; heaters scare me in general. They all fail, and I'm tired of it.

I'd love to hear any and all current reviews on these heaters.

Thanks much. And wish me luck with this one!

I recently purchased one a few weeks ago, so not a long term review. I can say my tank temperature has varied from 80.31-78.10during that time.
Fits almost anywhere

They all fail eventually and sometimes spectacularly. My suggestion to people shopping for a new one, avoid brands that have experienced recalls. I also suggest two heaters rather than one and each have its own backup temp controller. Two heaters with two temp controllers is about $100 which at the end of the day is pretty cheap insurance and covers most heater malfunctions (stray voltage is a problem regardless).

As for the Neo Therm, they are nicely designed and most work as well as the next but they did have a big recall which would steer me off their brand. However if I already had one with its own backup controller, I would roll with it.

My experience with them has been good.

I change one of the 2 I have once per year.

No issues so far

Chewy.com has them for like half off. I bought two 100W for $34 each a few months ago. No problems so far

I bought 2 weeks ago. They fixed the issue with them blowing up, I call the company. It was a rez that was inside. when the power comes back on it resets back to what I had it on. They also are smaller! Give it a go

I’ve had mine for 4 weeks now , works great and steady temps .
Side question , would love to put in my rear compartments of my IM Fusion 20, but the top sticks out of the water . That won’t work will it ?
Currently it’s in the tank fully submerged .

I wound contact the manufacturer but I’m going to say no it won’t work. Should be fully in the water

I will use two Neo Therm 75 W for my new build (26 gallons volume) and am using one to cure dry rock. The tank is not set up yet, but I note that I pull the plug on the one in the bucket once a week and it comes right back to the same set temperature. When I place them in the tank I have an Ink Bird 308 Temperature Controller with a Y splitter on the heat outlet I will use. They now guarantee that the heater is shatterproof, for what that is worth.

I have 4 Neos, 2 50s one for each of my nuvo10 QTS and two 100s for my main display, LOVE them all. I've had the DT ones for about a year now and no issues at all with Rock solid temp.

There is a specification in the instructions as too how far it must be submerged, but I am at work and do not have them handy. If I recall it does not need to be completely submerged.

I’ve been running one for about a year without issue. It’s a 100w in a 29g tank. My temp is always between 77-78. I’m going to add a temp controller just in case as I now have too much in the tank to afford a runaway heater. I think it’s always a crapshoot anymore with almost everything.......

I have a 150w in my 40gal quarantine tank for almost 1yr now, zero problems and keeps the tank within a few tenths of a degree of what i have it set at. Returns to set temp after power outages.

I’ve had a 150w in my 50 gal cube for almost a year now and love it, maintains temp very accurately with very little fluctuations. No issues in the time I’ve had it.
