I have this stuff that kind of looks like cobwebs coming from this one particular rock...anyone know what it is?

If I recall right, they send that out to catch food, then retract it and eat whatever it catches. Small particles from the water column.

I heard they are very hard to get rid of. I have tons of them in my tank, they really get on my nerves. I also heard some limpets will eat them.

Best way to get rid of them is to superglue or epoxy them shut, I almost completely lost a colony of Zoa because they were irritating them.

I have them too. I try to crush them with my fingers or forceps whenever I am in the tank. I think some dont dies though. They dont harm anything, but I hate the stringy crap....

yeah...the stringy crap is irritating some zoos. It's not a big rock, so I think I am just going to toss it!

Yeah the smaller type can spread quickly and as every one said they can irritate corals. I use to take a little knife or screwdriver and just pop of their shells. From what I have seen they usually don't bury themselves deep in the rock they just make spiral shell on the outside of the rock. I have seen some large ones (about the size of a pencil eraser) that have some awesome colored bodies, like flourescent orange and green.
