I've never seen this but stumbled upon it today, coconut carbon block which I'm assuming works like rox binding up organics. Any thoughts on pros/cons of coconuts shell carbon in marine aquaria?
Looks like something out of 2001: A Space Odyssey. Which means it’s high-tech and definitely awesome.
I kid. Here’s my question: it says water flows around it, but why would you have that big a chunk of carbon unlessthe water also flowed through it? I think that’s the advantage of the granulated stuff is that you get a lot more contact with a lot more carbon per volume. I usually think of carbon blocks in connection with RODI-type applications where the water is forced through the block at some pressure.
