Cold water in - Hot water out??

Guys this is so confusing and im worries something is gonna explode.
I have cold water going into my RO unit (i unplugged the pipe that leads from the tap into the unit and tested the temp) but somehow hot water, very hot water, is coming out the other end???

Grab the water in line and feel what temp it is. There is no way for your ro unit to heat your water. Unless you have a booster pump and it’s faulty. I’m thinking your water is hooked up to the hot line.

I know it doesnt seem possible - the whole thing is passive with no electrical parts. the water in line is cold but the water out line is hot... im not on drugs i swear!

How many stages? Can you disconnect at each stage to see where the water first becomes hot?

That's where I was headed - wondering if the resin was reacting and building heat. My advice is to shut it down and call BRS. They have a lot of experience over there, including testing their own equipment against their competitors. They may have seen this before.

I would also call the manufacturer of the RODI unit if it isn't BRS.

I dunno who the manufacturer is. all the labels are removed and replaced with my LFS brand

Took the risk and let it run for a few minutes. water eventually cooled down.
I have a theories. I know that carbon can heat up on contact with water under certain conditions. whatever those conditions may be i guess my RO unit met them

Is the first canister carbon though? Usually it would be a sediment filter - just a fabric.

No it was the second canister that was getting hot. i went and felt them again, i was wrong about the first one
