Ok.. been looking at some cold water reefs!! OMG! Beautiful!!! It's official <<Will start cold water reef>> :tongue: It's gonna be grrrrrrreat! Anyone else got a cold water reef?!?! Let's see those pics!!!:xd:

They are beautuful tonya but they are very limited in corals and creatures you can get .. we have a local plublic aquarium here in socal and they have alot of cold water reefs but they seem to just have the same creatures in all thier tanks.. Just alot of pinks and reds..

we have some amazing colors up here in washington state I will see if a few from the local site here in Wa will come over and post pics of there tanks.

It's certainly an interesting idea..but the survial rate is probably muuuuuuuch lower than tropical species due to how they need to be shipped.

I know you saw Jacob's tank and was inspired, but I think he is able to collect a lot of that stuff himself.

We'll see how it goes. Like David said, I got him, and he's pretty good at keeping things alive, so we'll go into it with caution. It's almost like a new adventure for him! :snicker: If it doesn't work out, I can always go back to tropical. The anemones and starfish for cold water are absolutely breath taking though. I really hope we can do it after a lot of research, of course.

I'd be worried every single night that my chiller would break and I'd be screwed. Probably need to have a backup chiller kinda like how we have backup heaters.

Ya need a super thick tank to keep the heat out lol....
I know most small tanks like a 50gal they use 1.5" thick acrylic to help keep it cold inside and even saw one sweat that was pretty cool litterally lol....
