Figured I would at least get one post on this forum.

I am currently in college, and got bit by the reefing bug by watching Youtube videos my 2nd year of college. Told myself I was going to wait until I graduated, but just couldn't. Started out deciding to buy the Nuvo16 package BRS was selling, which was never set up and instead became a 20tall with a 10g sump, which I had set up for almost 2 years. I had to switch apartments and upgraded to a 40breeder with a 29g sump.

Only livestock currently is a pair of occellaris clowns and a firefish. Mostly LPS corals, with a few SPS. I'm a gear junky so I try to automate as much as possible. I have an apex controlling everything, 2x Kessil 360we's for lighting, 2 mp10wqd and a mag5 for flow.

Love reading about other peoples tanks, and learning as much as I can about the hobby. look forward to hanging out on another forum.

Welcome to R2R! ;)

College + Reeftank = Bad idea.....

But Totally Worth it! GL man I'm in my senior year at college and ran my tank by myself ever since junior year of highschool!

Welcome home, you will love it here! For me it hit me the year after highschool (I didn't go to college until a few years later).

Stretching a dollar and getting used to it because I didn't have any money was immensely helpful!

Nice tank and cool story! My story is similar :)

I ran into my first reef tank at the local pet store when I was in college, and I knew instantly I was hooked. However, there was no way I could afford such a hobby in college, so I figured I'd wait until after graduation.

When I bought my first house shortly after college, it, by chance, came with a built-in 90 FOWLR with a clarkii clown and two damsels. I spent the next five years transforming that tank into a reef complete with metal halides and bubble tip anemones.

After about five years, I moved and said goodbye to reefing as the built-in tank had to stay with the house. I moved a couple of times over the next ten years when I bought my current house a year and a half ago. My wife's friend was moving to Washington, and she gave me a reef ready 125 gallon tank that she had in storage, and thus my reefing days returned after a 10 year hiatus. Both times, the reefing bug has bitten me and yet I've never purchased a single display tank :)
