What is the best way to MURDER these lil fellas? They popped up out of nowhere all only on one rock as of now and I dont want them to spread. All advice welcome.

The only way i have got rid of hydroids was to let the rock sit out and dry out for a few weeks. I have tried to torch them, boil them, and even tried picking them off with tweezers but they just come back in full force. Oh i would get rid of them now. I waited and they were all over the place. So i ended up taking all the rocks out at one point.

Cover them in Kalk paste. Mix up some Kalkwasser to a paste form. Spread the paste over the hydroids with a syringe, without a needle. It kills them and the kalk paste will harden a grow coraline on it in no time!

Hmm boiling doesnt work, darn! I just got yelled at for using my GFs stock pot for boiling it. Kalk tomorrow.

I would think boiling would work. If you were willing to boil the rock then just sit the rock out side for a couple of days to let it dry out. Or.... put in it fresh water for a couple of days.

Or you could just chip the rock out from underneath them. Problem is getting the ones you can't see.

I was watching Animal planet most extreme. And the tube worm was on one of them. They can live over boiling hot water. So it wouldn't surprise me if hydroids can survive extreme conditions too.
