I can't tell if it's closer to 25 or 10

You should look at the top pic which is how you should look at it, looks to be around 25 hun :)
 
looks like about 25 to me. Wait till you get around 10 and try to figure out what it is :)
 
The problem with that app is, it's going to be thrown off by any shadows or inconsistencies in the shade due to variations of water depth. it's basically a color picker.

Yep, it's no spectrophotometer for sure. But the OP was asking for differentiating between 10 and 25. The app would have given the same results as this thread with that first pic.
 
Sure. under ideal lighting conditions it could be very useful, as long as you know its limitations.
 
I always place by a window w/ the blinds open at lunch time. I'll try the app tomorrow and post back here. see I thought the test read closer to 10. That's why I did a side shot. I'm pretty far off, but if the app is less far off than me... win.
