Color change DI resin help

These color changing DI resin are so expensive. I remember in the old days, the rodi systems didnt have any of this.
Is that any other option to keep water quality at Zero TDS?
I make lots of water, and Im spending $80 a month just on those color changing DI resin.
When mine gets to a brownish color close to the top my TDS meter Starts to read 0.05+
I’m running a 4 stage rodi.

You don't need color changing DI resin, you can use normal resin. The color changing is just an easy way to visually see what your TDS meter will already tell you, that its time to change the resin.

I don't use color changing DI. I also test my water each batch I make. If you test, you definitely do not need the color changing stuff.

Using regular resin, would it be the same time frame to change it? I have to replace once a week. I need something that will last more time.

I don't think either lasts longer. So if you need to change it out weekly, then use the cheaper non-color changing resin.

Have you tested what TDS your getting after it comes from the RO membrane but before the DI resin? Having to change the DI out weekly sounds way too fast. Your RO Membrane might need to be changed out.

Sounds like you have a bad ro membrane. If you have high tds going into your di resin you’ll burn your di very fast. I was burning through a two chamber di resin every 3 weeks....found out I was getting 60-80 tds going to it... I changed my ro membrane and now get 7 tds to my di and now lasts 4 months if not more. Use normal di resin and get a in and out meter for your filter very inexpensive to install and well worth it

There's something wrong here. Either your source water is very high in TDS, your RO/DI system is malfunctioning, your source water has high CO2 (which eats DI resin rather quickly), or any combination of these factors.

What is the TDS of the water going into the unit? What is the TDS after the RO membrane, but before the DI stage? How much water are you making per week? When did you last change the prefilters and the RO membrane?
