Color change

hi all,

So I recently got this purple tip anemone from my LFS. When I got him it was white and had purple tips. Now when I put it in my tank it is green and not white with the purple tips. What happened?

Different lighting. Your lights probably show up the colors of the nem better....or....the quality of your water is better and the nem is much happier with you, so it's showing off! I'd like to think it's the latter.

My best guess with the limited info available is that it's the lighting. If you have lights where you can control the color mix, you might try some other spectrum mix and see if that makes a difference. You could also call your LFS and ask them as a question and not as a complaint in order to try and get a non-sells answer.

I don't have your nem, but I have a frogspawn that looks very different under white light than it does under blue light. So much so that you would almost think it's a different frogspawn.
