My DI resin has blue and brown stripes now.it still reads 0.00 on the meter but I use it to auto fill my ato.does it go all brown before tds creeps up or should I change it out now?

Can you post a picture? I've never seen "stripes". Mine has always changed color from bottom to top. I wonder if maybe you're not packing it down enough and it's causing channels where water can flow through more easily in some areas.

Many DI resins have and indicator dye in them that well change color, usually blue to brown. This tells that you are about to reach the maximum capacity of the resin and it is time to change.

I would watch your TDS in the out flow and change it when you see it start to go up. If you want to extra cautious then change it and don't worry about it.

That's really odd. I'd change it just to be safe. I don't see the sponges on either end. Do you not use those? that may be part of the issue. When I refill I put the bottom sponge in, pour about 2" of resin, bang it on the counter to compact it, pour another 2" and bang and keep that up until there's just enough room for the top sponge.

As long as you are still getting 0 TDS water, I'd continue using it.
Just keep a eye on the meter.

I wonder if in the blue section you have some channeling going on that allows the water to bypass it. Just a guess though. My DI resin changes from the bottom up ...... At least so far.
