About a month ago I bought a 4 stage air water ice rodi system. I was advised on this forum to remove the di can from the top of the unit and install it in a vertical position. Due to space at the time I did not do it. After a couple weeks I noticed the water was forming a channel as I was told it may do. So I rigged it up with zip ties to a vertical position. A week later I noticed a portion had turned color. Is this ok or normal or do I need to change it out

Normal. Did you shake the canister to crumble any channels? The light spot is used up resin. Weird that its forming in the middle. Possibly still a channel going to that spot. Is the input from your ro membrane on the bottom or top?

No tds meter RO comes in the bottom. I did shake it and it has not gotten any worse idk if it was used up when it was horizontal and just settled that way?.. I did shake it up. The beads look like they are all moving around a bit while making water. How tight should it be packed ?? I have not had to change the resin at all and am wondering if they went lite on the packing ?

I can see it all move towards the top a very small amount and then it settles back down when the water stops running. It don’t move much but I can see it move

As long as it's being pushed up through the resin it should be ok. Light tumbling shouldn't hurt anything as long as the water is making contact with the resin. However, if that can be avoided its be better. Do you have spare resin that you could pack in there to tighten it up?

No I don’t have any on hand will be making a trip to the lfs to grab some new zoa frags and some resin at the end of the month. I can only assume they go lite on the resin to cut cost or something.. it should be fine till then as I only use maybe 75 gallons a month and it is making contact through the resin for sure. I’ll also take a sample in to get it tested for tds at that time
