Saltwater Differnce - 1.jpg

This is just an observation...

While mixing saltwater to do a water change on my curing rocks, I noticed a color difference between Aquaforest Sea Salt and Instant Ocean Sea Salt for Marine Aquariums, Nitrate & Phosphate-Free.

The bucket on the left is Aquaforest and the bucket on the right is Instant Ocean.

I was just surprised that the Aquaforest was slightly yellow. The joys of being a newbie...lol!

Interesting. The auqaforest likely has elevated values. I would run some tests on it pramameter wise.

instant ocean wins again!!! ;)

i would be curious to see the difference if you switched the mixes and buckets. maybe one bucket is tinted for whatever reason.

These buckets are new. I have never used them before so there is no color difference between them. However, that would be a valid consideration.

Very interesting, I know that aquaforest claims to have higher element values than IO. Please test them, I would be very interested to learn more

This appears to be a good time to order some additional test kits. Currently I only have the basic test kits since I am only testing for pH, Ammonia, Nitrite, and Nitrate.

Here are my test results:

Potassium = 320 Red Sea
Potassium = 360 Salifert
dKH = 8.5 Hanna
Ca = 418 Hanna

Instant Ocean
