I just started the plumbing phase of my new build and Im being crazy OCD. Everything is color matched. Would it be possible to paint the accent pieces of my protein skimmer to match the rest of my build? If so what kind? I've used Krylon fusion in the past but it doesn't stand up to well over time.

Interesting dilemma. What color are trying to color match?

We just discussed this with our build. Not sure why a manufacturer doesn't offer skimmers to match colored PVC?

Everything is either blue or SCH80 grey. The skimmer pieces that I would like to paint would be blue to match the PVC

Eshopps protein skimmers may be an option - they are blue already!

Wow. You guys would vomit if you saw the inside of my stand.

lol probably. My build is currently semi on hold while I source/paint fittings for my sump. Why dump so much money into the display and not your sump?? Im proud of both

I guess. I’m more of the thinking that my stand has doors that close for a reason.

I might have to step up my game??

@JoshH has a gorgeous sump in the works

Oh I dunno about that.... as for color matching skimmers, truth is krylon fusion is your best bet unfortunately. You can certainly order skimmers to match your color scheme 100% IF you're willing to shell out $450-600 for one ;)

Look into hydro dipping. It bonds colored film onto plastics. I’ve seen people use it on boats, so I don’t see why it wouldn’t work for a protein skimmer lid.

Funny my stand has no doors. I kind of laugh at color coding but my wife is ocd so I get it. A wrap may also work like the kind they do for algae reactors.
