I got some zoas that grow like crazy in one spot but don't color up there but if i move them up i get a super vivid color but seems like growth slows down dramatically.

So Just wanted to get an idea on how much of you guys would rather choose growth over color or vice versa.

well i mean if ur in it just to have a nice tank color or if u wanna have a huge colony then color up but personlly i prefer color but depends!

ill go with color i rather it grow slow wit nice color then grow fast with not so bright colors or you could grow it out fast so its a nice size then let them color up after your happy with the size

thats what i was thinking..

I would go with color over growth because if you truely love the coral it should be admired for its full potential imo growth would have to be for someone lookin to grow and frag such as a" Vendor" I believe mh lightin would give one great growth but zoas won't have the pop such as t5 which give out less par

so t5's bring more color out then mh?

Looks like another poll question here  but imo t5 definetly gives you better color" PoP "all day over mh I have seen zoas come out of a t5 tank and go into a mh tank and look totally dull and when its vice versa the zoas that didn't have pop under t5 but did have growth after acouple of weeks gains that PoP and looks totally different

I would definitely choose color, a coral stands out by its color and not by its growth. I prefer to have a small piece of a colorful coral than a big colony with a pale brown color!!...
Thats why the beauty of reefing is to achieve a perfect balance where you have good coral growth, with stunning colors.

haha .. thanks for the input, I only had LEDs so i never used any other fixture.

Color is important because it relays a corals health. Beyond that, as long as the coral has a healthy amount of pigment (even drab brown), then I choose (for me) Growth, as this is my priority for keeping a reef.
