So do corals get the color from the white spectrum or the blue? I know the blues make the glow but i want to know where do they get this from.

It Depends...

There are numerous pigments. Some reflect a different colour than absorbed.

Well do my coral get better glow and colors more from my daytime lights or is it the dawn and dusk? Im having trouble trying to explain

Most likely if you are using blues for dawn or dusk lighting you will see more colors. To much whites and your colors won't pop as much. So not as much from day time or brighter day time intensity on whites.

Its hard to judge 3 watt bridgelux knockoffs as there is no binning or consistency to the look of their cool whites.

The Cree 5 watt LEDs have 28 Different colour bins of their Cool White with each having a slightly different look. Their Royal Blue over my SPS and Mixed Reef give an awesome colour pop. That Glow is from anything less than 455nm. From the chart you can see that the 445-455NM (Royal Blue) hits a lot of pigments. I just add a little Blue and Cool White to bring out the rest.

My understanding after having a similar conversation in my local club, was that the blue spectrum provides better light that the corals use. The white lighting is more beneficial to plants/algae. LEDs changed how we think about light. It used to be the opposite with MH you wanted the yellower white lights for growth and the blues were for the appearance of the tank. But the wavelengths of the lights that were toward the yellower end still contained a ton of blue which the coral used for growth. At least that's how I took it from the conversation we'd had. But I'm a simpleton, so take that for what it's worth!

So is this right the blues are the most beneficial for the corals color?
