Colorblind Reefing

I'm blue-green color blind. Have had a tank close to 30 years. My wife HATES my hobby, (but loves my tank) because she has to run all the chem checks. :-)
Glasses? don't know about them.
I am a private pilot and almost did not get my license because I could not pass the color gun test (it's a test where the tower flashes a color gun at you and you have to tell the color you see). Color gun is used to tell pilot what to do if their radio is not working.
Again I don't know about the glasses, but back in the day (I'm 60+) science had discovered a correction for blue green. It was wearing one red contact lens.
I bought one, and guess what, It Worked!
Unfortunately your brain is smarter than science. I could pass a color blindness test for about half an hour before brain got used to the tease, and brought itself back to same color blindness.
Interestingly enough (back then) the air-force would not take you for a pilot position if you were color blind, but they would take you as a ground observer because camouflage did not work, you saw through it. Colors were not what everyone else saw but color blind people saw different patterns and movement in the jungle floor thru the camouflage.
Wonder what my tank really looks like.

This is a very interesting thread. The female members in my family often suffer from stereo blindness so the idea of not seeing the world the same isn't new but how that may reflect in our reefs is interesting

I too have this stereo blindness problem with my daughter... and I'm text book stupid color blind..

the affinity of a loved one's taste in music that makes you basically want to jump off a bridge

Stereo blindness? That's something new, what is that?
It is where for various reasons, just like color blindness there are different types, your brain can not process the information coming from both eyes
at the same time and make a 3d image of your surroundings. So you are seeing the world in 2d.

This thread is fascinating guys.

I just imagine seeing the world like old school Nintendo super Mario Bros except with SPS and toadstools everywhere.

Is this when one eye goes crossed? My daughter sees in 2D because her eye crosses when she's trying to focus on something. But this was easily fixed with glasses.
This is one of the best threads I've read in awhile and very informative! Thanks guess and gals...:)
