That ultimates rainbow looks fantastic! How long did it take to grow the colony to that size?
You took some beautiful shots Dave, some of these look like they were taking underwater... was the phone in some sort of a watertight case or was it all through the glass? Did you use any filters and what did you have your light set to?
Thank you for your reply!!!Thank you. Just an iPhone with a yellow filter to help cut down the blue. Pics taken under (4) blue plus and (2) coral plus bulbs. I turned off the LED actinic and 2 actinic bulbs. And yes, top down I used a porthole and just laid the phone down in it. The side pics are up against the side glass.
Thanks! About 18 months but it stayed a small brown frag 8 months as I didn't know what I was doing. It's a fast grower now. I am surprised I didn't kill it early on.

Could we get a list of tank specs and parameters used to achieve such incredible colors?
is the yellow one a pink lemonade?
What did you change after the 8 months that resulted in a beautiful sps garden?
Wow nice setup! I'd like to say mine is fairly similar except the feeding/nutrient levels. My fish aren't fed as hearty of a mixture as yours and lower nutrient levels follow that. Maybe I need to kick up my feeding and see how that benefits my SPS.Thank you! I think I have a fairly simple set up.
- I dose DIY 2 part (recently switched to pharmaceutical grade anhydrous Calcium Chloride and Magnesium Chloride) about 85ml/day.
- 10% weekly water change with Red Sea Regular (blue bucket)
- Significant flow of ~100x gal/hr, random flow changes throughout the day
- T5/LED 12 hours actinic only, 4 hours peak all bulbs and led strip
- DIY ATS lit 18 hrs/day
- 8 fish I feed 1x/day. Alternate homemade chum (various fresh seafood, oyster feast, rotifers, selcon, reef chili) and rinsed PE mysis the next day. Some nori every three or four days for my two tangs.
- Blast the corals and rocks directly with a power head once in a while before WC
- Cycle power head in sump and overflow box every 5 minutes
- Marine pure biomedia (1) 1x8x8 in sump between baffles and (1) 4x8x8 stuck in sump corner
- Skim somewhat wet
- Say No To GFO
- Run GAC passively
- UV 24/7
- Kh - 8, Ca - 410, MG 1350, No3 - 15, Po4 - .04
- Temp - 77 to 77.5 degrees
That's about it.
Sure is!
