I have a 39 gallon mixed reef, softies, LPS and last January added pink and green birds nest, purple monty digitata and blue and orange monticap and rainbow monti at the very tippy top of my rockwork and added a third kessil a160we as a spot light on them totalling 3
Monticaps and rainbow doing great
Green birdsnest color and growth is fantastic
Pink birdsnest color is acceptable and growth is ok
The purple digitata was basically brown for jan-feb. Started cranking up center light and dosing mag. Increased WC also. I noticed finally a faint purple hue. Kept cranking lighting up to 75% on the center light. (I have to leave my two end lights at 60% not to fry my softies). Last week bumped to 80% and Id say im seeing definite purple color to it but not like in the pictures when you google one. My color is set to 25% on all lights.
Just got an Apogee 510 today and question is, as of this last power bump last week to 80%, I am bouncing around (due to surface shimmer) 375-425 avg par at the purple digi, 325-375 at the pink birdsnest and 250-300 on the green. All the plating montis are getting around 250 and my set up is providing 150ish for my torches/FS and acans and 100ish for my shrooms.
Should that par reading be enough to color that purple digi up or should I squeeze the last bit of horsepower out of the light and ramp it onwards the last 20% to 100?
See attached crude scribble for light configuration and rough par.
