Just bought a top down box for my camera after getting tired of shooting pictures through the glass and getting false colors. Well, the good news is that I do have better colors than I had thought. The bad news is that looking through my tank glass sucks now.

I'm probably opening a huge can of worms by asking this question but why are you getting "false colors" looking through the glass? What do you mean by "false colors?" Doesn't make any sense to me. Can you show an example of the false colors you're getting?

What type of glass do u have? Starphire (low iron glass) or regular glass.

I was confrused as well, Is your glass tinted or something?

on a side note, nice collection.

I think the same thing about my tank, most tanks actually. Its all about perspective, when you are looking from the top down, you are seeing it in the full light and the parts that are most exposed to the light, creating the best color. When looking at it from the side, you only really catch smaller amounts of light that takes weird bounces off the coral, and the sides or front where you view from really isn't getting light directly.... Just a theory of mine...its obvious in my tank with a light rail

What I meant by false colors is that normal glass is a heavy tinted green...unless you have starfire glass. Just look at the end section of your glass and see how green it is..... My glass is standard plate glass, which most tanks above 125 gallons are. It turns your green clams to blue clams, it turns some blue colors to shades of purple, it dulls the whole scene of a tank when compared to starfire glass or of course an acrylic tank. To see what you are missing, borrow a kids swimming mask or an acrylic viewer and peek from the top of the tank through the water, then look through the glass. If you dont have Starfire glass or an acrylic tank, then you are seeing everything through green tinted glass, its as simple as that.

So could you take a picture and show how do they look like from the side for comparison? Great color btw!!!
