With all the capability in photo editing software these days, combined with the incredible range of lighting temperature and wavelength, how can one be confident that WYSIWYG is actually WYSIWYG? Can photo's of corals by vendors be misleading? Just curios if it's an issue or consideration, or not. Maybe the photo's are just so amazing that one might instantly assume they're enhanced.

Yes, to enhance sales many vendors shoot under 20K or heavy on actinics and or Blue LED's. I usually notice it when closely looking at the egg crating or coraline growth in pics shown. Can be misleading, but also many Reefkeepers have similar lighting on their own DT (not my taste but to each their own). I don't see as much as I'd like to of vendors notating under which light pics were taken.

Cheers, Todd

Anything could be altered, but including some reference in the photo for color and size might be appropriate disclosure, like a coin or something.

Yes some vendors do over saturate photos and enhance the colors over the top. Typically by looking at the surrounding colors of the eggcrate or frag plug one can notice whether things are off or not. The best way to decide on who to buy from is feedback from others experiences IMO.
