So I picked up a nice colt coral today and I was wondering about placement. How do they do in moderate flow and can they Handle high light? There is a surprising lack of information on leathers around. Here is a picture of mine and I'm not sure if it's getting too much flow.

Moderate flow is good, they can handle high flow, but the get all blown to the side. You can pretty much place it anywhere in the tank as far as lighting goes.

I have a singularia sp? It will tell you when it's not happy with the flow mine will not open if it's not right as far as light I agree it don't seem to matter

For sure. I might try to move it to the top of the scape and secure it so it can fill in some empty space then after a week or so.

I have a Sinularia too, I just have had no experience with Colts before. Trying to stock more leathers these days

Best is to have it secured to a piece of lr as it looks like it may not be happy due to being in the sand bed at the moment.

I've kept numerous leathers and the such over the years and have found the colt corals can handle any type of lighting including LEDs and MH. As for flow, they do best in moderate flow and if you can get a random flow, that's even better for them.

Cheers,
Alex

Thanks. It's attached to a thin piece of rock right now that it came on, and that's on the sand. I'll raise it up in a few days and see how it does in higher light and flow

I've moved it up in the rock work and it seems to tolerate the high flow and light. Enjoying this coral, even if it's not the most colorful. Hope it's a fast grower but doesn't bother my toadstool!
