So, I have ich in the tank. Been treating for more than a week now with metroplex in the food. Still see some scratching and dots here and there.

I was wondering if you could mix chloroquine, Metroplex and focus in the food to make it more effective.

I bough the chloroquine from eBay. It's says it's a respected seller.

Any ideas or suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

Unfortunately, metro mixed with food is only for internal parasites, it will not cure ich. Chloroquine phosphate is for dosing in the water column to cure ich and other external parasites/diseases. I don't have experience with CP, but I do know they say be careful of what is purchased on ebay as the concentration of the product is unknown.

You can treat the tank with the CP and keep on feeding the the metro+focus but the metro won’t help with ich as was said already. I think you can mix the focus with GC(General cure ) also in the food.

You can't treat the tank with CP if you have corals and invertebrates in it.

About metroplex and ich... Well I had 2 breakouts in the past that Wipeout my tank.

In this ocassion the ich is under control and no death so far. I will treat during a 30 day period. Will see how that works.

CP can also be used in food (look for ich shield food)

Thanks

Agree 100%. This is a case where a quarantine and copper or pure CP is required.

I didn't realize you weren't talking about a QT tank with the CP. I think you will struggle to find a solution that will 100% eradicate ich that is safe to use in your DT. Through food will not kill the ich.

I know. My normal procedure would be to take out all fish, treat them in QT and then go fallow for 2 months.

But if the fish is healthy its almost impossible to catch. So my approach would be to try this in the DT. So far it's not a bad approach, the white dot only last a day. So I'm trying to kill it as it attaches to fish. The theory would be once it can't reproduce it would die off.

Or at least that what seachem says. I wouldn't do it if it is a bad breakout tho...

This is not going to work to eradicate the parasite. You’ll need to do what you have to to remove the fish and treat properly.

Could you explain where you heard Metroplex mixed with food won't cure ich? The Seachem site doesn't mention that. It just says it can be in the water column or in food.

You can certainly dose it in the water column to treat things like Brook or Uronema. It just won't treat ich. I certainly wish it did, It would be much easier to erradicate ich if that were the case.

I'm trying to find the source of that information, that it won't treat ich via food. Can you show me where you found that? The Seachem Forum has multiple threads of people asking questions about treating ich with Metroplex and Focus bound to food. They never say it won't work in that manner.

It may look like it is alleviating symptoms but it is not going to kill the Ick. Go off the forum and research you will find many scientific pages discussing only copper based treatments and CP as the only methods that appear to kill the parasites.

Everybody on here would badly like it to work but it just does not.
