I’ve finally, finally gotten my build back on track after a natural disaster and will soon be completed.

A friend of mine is giving me all of his saltwater stuff as he has a kid on the way and wants out of the hobby. (Pretty convenient as my fish are in his tank still). He’s got about 70lbs of rock in a 5 year old tank, so I have a couple questions how to go about doing this.

Cycle: Because of the volume and age of that rock, I imagine the tank will be instant-cycled and fine to introduce livestock as soon as the aquascaping is done? Since the majority of the rock will be either new new, or basically new from my old tank that was nuked, should I expect to exper

Inhabitants: What to do this these poor buggers during the move. In total it’s a white eye moray, marine betta, maroon clownfish, purple tang, green chromis, ocellaris clownfish and an assortment of CUC and inverts. The rock will have to be pulled from their tank to go in mine. Will they be fine in the old tank for a day or so while mine is put together, filled and heated, just with some pvc and whatnot?

Am I missing anything that I should be aware of? I know I’m kinda going about this backasswards, but ever since November this have been… complicated. :D

If it was me I would test the water until everything was good to go
Also, with the fish you could ask a friend to take care of them during the move/ your local lfs/ or jusy keep the other tank up with some rock until it is ready.

just be careful
