I'm in the process of getting ready to replace some of my filters in my current RO/DI 4 stage filter. I have just came into possession of a 2nd 4 stage RO/DI filter. I was thinking about trying to combine the 2 systems into a 6 stage RO/DI system.

Was going to end up running something like:

  • Stage one: GE ROSave.Z 1 Micron Depth Filter
  • Stage two: BRS Universal 1 Micron Carbon Block
  • Stage three: BRS Universal 1 Micron Carbon Block
  • Stage four: RO membrane
  • Last 2 stages - DI Resin cartridges
I cant think of any problems of doing this so long as I get the plumbing right. Can anyone think of any issues that may arise or anything I'm overlooking? Or maybe anyone with experience trying this?

I use a 7 stage here myself, got a realy bad water issue with tons of TDS.

I use 1 sediment, 2 carbons, 2 ro membranes and 2 back to back DI filters.

No issues here and i do get 0 TDS after RO for quiet some time and 0 TDS after DI.

Wonder if you're facing TDS issues to think about adding more stages?

That's basically the 6 stage setup they sell already. As long as you get the plumbing right it will work fine and that should be easy. Have you considered making it a 7 stage and separating the cation, anion, then a mixed bed as a final. I have this on mine and I haven't changed resin in months and my water is spot on.

You can also use two RO membranes which will increase the production rate of the system.
