Lots of hits on the search for this issue so I apologize for adding another BUT:

I just picked up a new Blue Jaw Trigger (male, about 4in). I put him in my QT two days ago and this morning I noticed his eyes were a bit cloudy. Tank tested fine (no ammonia/nitrite, nitrate 10-15). I didn't notice this issue in the store....

Both eyes are cloudy so that means most likely a bacterial infection, right? I just want to get y'all's opinion on whether I should just wait a day or two before tossing in Furan-2 or something. I've always been under the impression that stress can cause temporarily cloudy eyes, so maybe just the stress of changing tanks did it? He is eating like a monster and always swimming out in the open. No heavy breathing etc. Just a slight glaze on the eyes...wont even show up in pictures but I'll keep trying.

I have no problem just medicating right away, but wanted to ask what y'all thought first. If I should just medicate - Is Furan-2 the best choice?

Thanks.

It does sound bacterial, but if it's mild then you can take a "wait and see" stance. Try feeding vitamin enriched foods to boost his immune system. Hopefully he can beat it back on his own, but if it persists for more than a few days then you may want to consider treatment. Furan 2 is a good choice to use.

Got it. Thanks. I will give it a couple days. Very minimal and he's out and about and happy so hopefully it'll wear off on its own. I've got furan-2 anyway just in case. Thanks b

Sounds like you have it under control. Keep an eye on it and let me know how it turns out :D

Here are some photos. It's pretty faint, but for sure a bit cloudy. Think it's worth treating?

i can only see a small sheen to the eye. I'm sure it's not showing up well for the camera. I'd just wait, watch and see. You have the meds you need on hand in case you need them. For now, just watch.
